I have tried almost everything to fix a misfire in my Maxima. No Chk Eng codes set so I am getting stumped. I changed spark plugs, checked air filter, replaced an injector, and had injectors cleaned and still have an intermitent miss at low speeds. I checked and the knock sensor is bad and I am replacing it. I have seen many post stating the KS will not cause a misfire so I am stumped. It is not a constant misfire and is more noticeable when stopping or at idle and low speeds. Any suggestions??? Thank you for your help.

is this a misfire or hesitation/stalling? you might look into cleaning the throttle body, MAF sensor, AND checking the plug that goes into the MAF. the wires going into the plug have a tendency to back out and cause a bad connection.

My 95 had a miss and it was ONE of the coil packs

I would check that first along with the plugs

I was **ll for the mechanic to find. The first mechanic said myengine was dead (one cylinder) but I knew better.

You could get a multimeter to test the resistance.

Hello I think I have the same problem with my 1998 3000 l. Maxima. The problem is that engine stops working then I put shift lever on R position also it stops then I drive on D slowly (without acceleration) in the traffic jams.I visited several garages but nobody can find any problem. Computer doesn’t show any mistakes, so I am in deep shat

I have changed all the plugs , air filter and checked ignition coils and Idle Air Control valve but nothing helped.

Now one mechanic advised me to change flywheel, because he thinks that it could be damaged and flywheel sensor sends fallacious information to computer that is why I have a misfire I don’t know is it true but I m going to check it.

Maybe somebody have any opinion about this issue.

I will check the MAF and coil packs. I was unsure why the reference to steering?????? Note it does not stall or hesitate. It is more like a dead fire every few times. RUns Great at wide open throttle and below 3000 rpm. I am waiting for Knock Sensor to arrive and will work forward on the other stuff,I thought the timing sensor pickup was located at the front of the engine by the harmonic balancer/pulley????Thanks for your advice and help, John
