Ok, I've seen a dozen topics on cams here. discussing all the different cam options. Problem is I'm aware of only 3 cams for the KADE. the early (91) late 95 up and the JWT. Where are all these other cams comming from and what is the different specs of all of them.

Can somebody give me a brief comparasin of the 91 and 95 cams. And why do the engines have the same hp ratings with different camshafts?

well the 95+ cams only have a 232/232 profile. 91 cams have 240/248 = they open the valve longer = higher revs/more hp.

there are a few other aftermarket cams... jwt is 1. http://www.pdm-racing.com has a couple for either NA or turbo'd ka's.

over the years, nissan changed things but still resulted in the same hp. ie: s14's have better maf's, s13s have hotter cams. the distributors are also different.

The 95+ has worse cams but a better intake manifold.

The reason the cams were changed was to improve low end torque. Running the lower lift cams in conjunction with deleting the secondary butterflies (swirl control device) resulted in a little spunkier off-idle power, to help tote that extra 300lbs better.

Also, much of my research has led me to information stating that the 95+ static compression ratio was just a tad bit higher (9.5:1 as opposed to 9.2:1 in the early DOHC), which would also allow for a bit more response and such.

I have a '95 KA motor, that i am swapping into my '91 (threw a rod), since i am changing the distributors, should i change the cams, i mean will '91 cams in a '95 motor equate out to a few more ponies ?
