When running my project 240 at normal engine temps my cams have this rattle/squeak. At first I thought it might just be the fan hitting the shroud and that it did it for so long this was the result. After I put a listening probe to the valve cover, i.e. long shaft flat tip screw driver, I heard it more clearly. So am I doomed to replacement or will it hold out for another year or two till I can get my RB26DETT swap done?

alot of ka24de's do it. My old 94 altima wiht the ka24de did it for the 50k I owned it and never had any adverse effects. Some will eventually wear thru the front cover. I would open it up and take off the top guide. That may cause all the rattle to go away.

yeah, with any ka24 engine noise(most anyway) my first action is to pull the valve cover. i have seen so many with bad top guides, stripped rocker threads, broke chain gear teeth, etc.
