i have read the previous threads in the achives. It didnt seem to help.

My problem started out of the blue. I tried starting it ....it trys to turn over but doesnt go all they way. On the first try after letting it sit for a while it shakes like it wants (putt putt putt sound) to turn over then doesnt. doing it the second time around it wont shake like the previous attempt. I check if it was spark plug problem. Neg, Thought it was a fuel line problem, Neg . Battery is new, .....dont have reader. the check engine light is not lit nor has it ever turned on.

In one of the threads it mentioned it might be a camshaft sensor? Hmm Where exactly is that sensor? Any pics to help me look at it? It is very cold outside right now. any the wind makes it seem -10. So spending lime outside is important.PLease any suggestions is appreciated. I have to take the bus to work and thats sucks.

The cam sensor is on the drivers side camshaft, under the timing cover.

Did you try pulling the injector fuse and fire her up?

Give that a shot and let me know.

This is the latest... I had a friend come over yesterday and he knows more than me about Infiniti b/c he works on Nissans 300zx and they are almost the same... so he helped try to figure out the problem...but with no result.. Charged up the battery to its full capacity, took out each coil pack and spark plug disconecting the fuel pump fired it up to run the fuel lines. He had a pressure gauge to check the pressure and he said it had perfect pressure. spark plugs are ok. also check the mass airflow sendor...he had extra one...also it was ok....what the hell could the problem be???

Have you tried the self-diagnosis procedure on the car? If not, let Wes know because he has an online factory service manual for the car. It will save you a lot of time, because the codes should tell yuo what is wrong with the car.

There isnt neccessarily any codes if the car doesnt start.

There are three things you need for then engine to start.

Compression, Spark, Fuel.

Check all three and see which one you dont have, then backtrack from there.

I checked the fuel pump....its ok, Fuel fuse...ok MAF......OK, Spark.......ok Battery is new Fuel Pressure is great When is charge it for a while...then make the initial start ...the motor wants to turn over ...gives a couple of shakes... then it looses interests. the second time around it wont do the same thing...it will just crank no start like before....

what compression are you talking about??

just a thought...

has the engine been able to turn over? is the starter moving the flywheel? you can see this if all the belts and crankshaft starts rotating upon starting the car.

it is possible that the flywheel has lost a tooth or two and the starter wont engage it?

try cracking over the engine by hand, putting the flywheel in another position to the starter, and see if it engages....just a thought.

Change the plugs, and pull the injector fuse.

Try to start it up like that. Should fire right up. At least mine did when I had this problem.

Also I would like to add that.....i charged up the battery, changed the plugs again,...and didnt start right away....put i kept at it....holding the key on all the way and holding the gass pedal down all the way....then after i would say 40 seconds it coughed then shook then it started up....what the hell.....it fixed it self.

would like the fix the oil problem....need actual pics of the oil sensor what some threads have said it might leak from there....
