Hey you all, New to Nico.I'm sure this topic has been covered in the past so maybe someone could guide me the past post and suggestions.Topic: Tachometer 1995 J30, fluctuating and sticking. I am a mechanic but not familiar with the J30. I do know the shop manual states that the tach is a 2 wire system involving pins 27&20 to the ECU ,BUT WHAT IS THE FIX IF AT ALL THERE IS ONE ? Thank's Guy's Tom

Is the engine revving up and down with the tach??If not it seems to be a wiring issue. If its literally sticking I would think the tach mech is gummed up.Oh and

First step is to remove the entire cluster, clean connections and plug in. See if that fixes it.

Instrument cluster replacement is an age related common issue in these cars.

As Driver mentioned cleaning ALL the cluster contacts is step one.And a free one at that !!!

You will soon learn this whole car is computer controlled. One loose connector/ground will wreak havoc.
