I have a 1995 J 30 with 132,000 miles. I have driven it for the last 90k and have experienced intermittent acceleration hesitation the whole time. Sometimes the car has very responsive acceleration and I never have issues at highway speeds. It actually feels like a dead pedal and is very sluggish at RPM < 2,500. I use 93 octane fuel and have had the car maintained at Infiniti. Why would it not occur all the time? Any thoughts???

Bad knock sensor is the first thing that pops in my head.

I had that.

Idles kind of like my old Buick Grand National at a light.

Its indicative of either a faulty ignition coil or in my case a faulty fuel injector.

Pull the engine cover off. Get yourself a decent multimeter(there pretty cheap these days) and test. You should be getting between 10-14 ohms per injector. If its below or above that range. First check the ignition coil. The way you do that is to swap in a new or working coil. If your engine smooths out, you've solved the problem. If it doesn't you need a new injector.
