so i bought a 95 infinity g20 about half a year ago (it got great reviews and was just under my price range at the time) with some work that i knew needed to be done. the main thing was the brakes, everything else was fine. i just bought new cables, terminals, and exhaust system bc they all died (which made my car die duh). but there is still something funny going on. nobody has figured it out yet. here are the symptoms: when i apply the brakes, the entire car including highlights, stereo display, dashboard, etc. flicker once then resume on with less brightness. yes every time i use the brakes. also, my abs has been giving me trouble and sometimes when im applying the brakes the abs "gives out" and it disengages my brakes which makes the car "stutter" forward. yes, i lose break control and push harder on the brake pad to make sure the car doesnt hit the car in front of me. sometimes the abs light comes on, sometimes it doesnt, sometimes it comes on when driving and not applying the brakes. the check engine light comes on when i start the car along with several other lights but after a few seconds (after it starts) they all go away. weird. cant figure it out. any1 with knowledge about this or if youve had something similar i would love to know. thanks in advance. and by the way, the car actually runs great, no problems with performance other than a slight burning rubbery smell after driving long distances. just got a oil change and all belts are fine but need to be replaced "soon".

You need to get your brakes fixed. Please do NOT drive this car until you do. You could be putting your life or someone else's in danger.

Get that taken care of and then we'll start tracing the electrical issues.

:welcome: to NICO!

Ditto on fixing the brake issue first. That's a big one... There should be a way to check the ABS system for fault codes. You might want to read through the factory service manual, located at www.nicoclub.com/FSM/ to see if there's anything in there that helps.

i know that i need the brakes fixed asap, they will be in the next few weeks. with this car sometimes everything works perfectly for a while then starts to do weird things. i dont know why i am stuck in my of thinking that: the brakes and/or abs has something to do with the cars entire electrical "flick and dim" when i press the brakes. i know very little about cars but why do two unrelated systems (brakes/abs and electrical) have something to do with each other? will get the brakes/abs checked soon dont worry.

i also just read the factory service manual you posted up there (the brake section), and it helped a lot actually. thanks! sounds like there might be a sensor out of wack... will return on here with results of brake inspection.

Excellent! If I had to guess, I'd say there's something going on with one of the wheel sensors - but I've never (knock on wood) had an ABS system failure, other than a leaky pump.
