So i have a 95 extended cab hardbody. I have been doing a bit of research the last few weeks and would like to do the sr20det s13 swap. i will not personally be doing the mechanic work as it is beyond my ability at this point. I have a good friend who him and his brother build modified dirt track racing cars. he is a master on cars but has not done an sr install before. they are talking and doing some research themselves, but i figured it would be a good idea to ask around in this forum as i have already found some great info. so i will list my main questions but any advice is absolutely golden, thanks!

-looking at the sr20det blacktop from tiger japanese. $1450 with ecu. complete engine, transmission, starter, alternator, turbo, etc. http://www.tigerjapanese.com/index.php? ... &Itemid=26 I called them and got an answer right away and asked about parts being replaced if damaged and stuff like that. compression tested, and a 30 warranty.

-what other parts will i need to buy for my installers?

-any tips or advice for my installers.

-what about wiring to the truck?

-also any tips on suspension upgrading would be amazing.

thanks.

Don't forget to check out the truck forums in my sig below!

First off, welcome to NICO!

Secondly, there is a lot that goes into this, all little things, but a lot nonetheless. The oil pan will need to be modified to fit around the steering and suspension cross members, and as a result, the oil pickup will need to me modified as well. I'm not 100% sure what this process looks like with the SR because normally when swapping from a truck KA to say, a car KA, the pans from the two just swap out. Not sure if that same process works with the SR, as I am not sure what the blot pattern looks like. Next up is the engine mounts. You'll need some custom ones. You'll also need a car transmission, and custom mounts for the trans as well. With that, you'll need a custom shorter driveshaft, and I would suggest a one piece. Laslty is wiring. If you can find a JDM SR S13 harness and just modify it, that would be best. Just run the wires to blinkers etc. and then run whatever aftermarket gauges you want.

Hope that helps.

As far as suspension... you can make the stock setup work pretty not too bad with bushings and strut upgrades etc. (see Rev_D's thread in the trucks forum on all his suspension goodies) but if you really want it to handle good you'll need yet more custom fabbed stuff such as replacing the torsion bars with coilovers and a 4-link rear.

I don't know about the swap but I knwo about that engine dealer. If you can, go pick the engine up yourself. My friends and I have purchased 3 engines from them. Each time we went, they let us go in the back, compression test the engines ourselves, and pick which one we wanted. They did all the paperwork for customs as well. Great customer service! The one that I had shipped was labeled simply as "VG30DETT" and showed up with a Mine's ECU and some other goodies.

yea i spoke with a guy at the one in toronto, good service i agree. i am glad to hear they have good service. i did read some stories that were bad from some dealers, such as engines knocking an not giving another engine. or missing parts. thanks!
