Hello all , I have a 1995 Hardbody with a ka24 , having issues with it breaking up at higher rpm in all gears. I have replaced the ignition coil , plugs , wires , rotor , cap , o2 sensor and fuel filter . tested fuel pressure , tested MAF , it doesnt throw any codes. if you step on the gas at idle it breaks up. 1st gear loses power around 4k rpms , and then breaks up in every other gear around the same rpms. Any ideas?

I have read a technical bulletin on this. I will look into it for you when I get home tonight.

The bulletin I am thinking of is # NTB96-114 titled "1993-97 Truck Engine Misfire/Rough Running During Cold Weather Operation" and it says that 93-97 trucks may exhibit a misfire when operated at ambient temps below 32 degrees F due to ice forming on the tip of injector #3. On OBDII equipped trucks DTC P0303 will trigger a MIL indicator. Nissan instructed the technician to replace the intake manifold for trucks between 1993-1995 and, for 1996-1997 trucks replace the intake manifold and the ECM.

To confirm cylinder #3 is misfiring on 1993-1995 trucks disconnect the #3 injector connector.

To confirm cylinder#3 is misfiring on 1996-1997 trucks Use Consult set to Active Test, Power Balance to disable the cylinder and verify. Perform Trouble Diagnosis for DTC P0300 through P0304 using the appropriate service manual.

If the cause for #3 misfire can not be determined by the above steps:

1993-1994(CA Only)-1995(CA and Fed) trucks= replace the intake manifold.
1996-1997 Trucks= Replace the intake manifold and the ECM. The improved intake manifold(part # 14001-0S301) MUST be used in combination with the improved ECM. See part numbers below.

Parts Information

Improved Intake Manifold = 14001-03S301
ECM 1996-1997 Federal Spec 2wd MT = 23710-1S704
ECM 1996-1997 CA Spec 2wd MT = 23710-1S706
ECM 1996-1997 Federal Spec 2wd AT = 23710-1S713
ECM 1996-1997 CA Spec 2wd AT = 23710-1S714
ECM 1996-1997 Federal Spec 4wd = 23710-1S764
ECM 1996-1997 CA Spec 4wd = 23710-1S766

That's a quick paraphrase of NTB96-114

I've already seen that bulletin. And I guess I should have said I live in florida. Wonder if a bad temp sensor could cause it.

Bad temp sensor could cause that yes.
