95 G20t 5 Speed transmission issues

Alright so my cousin bought a 95 G20t with a 5 speed. There are some issues with it. First of all, the clutch is on it's last legs. It slips sometimes if you hit the gas too fast after you shift or on the highway in high gear climbing a hill. But the other problems are, First and Reverse. Most of the time shifting into first is a little rough. You would have to shift into second and jam it into first. And reverse grinds all the time. You would have to jam it into reverse so it wont grind. I'm really hoping the synchronizers arent shot.

Any input on this? Other than that, this car is lovely. But we would wanna work these problems out. The clutch will be changed as soon as funds are available. But we're uncertain of the grinding issue. It seems as if the clutch is still engaged to the flywheel and making the input shaft turn causing the grinding while trying to shift into first or reverse. The other gears are fine.

Reverse has no syncro, so it's not that. Replace the clutch, that will probably make it easier to see if there's something wrong with the disconnection from the flywheel.
