I'm replacing the water pump on this G20 I purchased recently along with all hoses, belts, and fluids. The water pump was a bear to get out and I'm wondering if there is a trick to keep the liquid gasket bead intact while weaving it back into place?? I removed the front engine mount and wedged a block of wood to maintain maximum clearance between the engine and the wheel well ( the pump came out from the top). Any advice is welcome.

You could let the gasket stuff dry for a little bit..... Enough that it will stay in the crevase until you get it up there....... but not too dry so that it wont form a good seal......

Well I got it back in and it didn't leak!!!! With the front engine mount removed I move the engine up as high as possible and kept a wedge in the space to help provide almost adequate space to spread the liquid gasket and carefully rotating and placing the pump in place. This is not a job I want to do again. I also had one of the mounting bolts on the front engine mount sheared and need to ease-out it later.
