Been driving D21's for sometime now.

Doing research on the crappy mileage on these....2 things really stand out on simple stuff, that really made the truck run better all round, and really improved over all mileage.

1) Cleaned the MAF sensor (mass air flow)...usually found just after the air filter on the intake duck, clean only with elctronic circut cleaner...the liquid type......the results of this cleaning were amazing lol.....best to to a search and read up on the proceedure for your specific vehicle. this is so easy to do, like 5 mins, less if you do it while servicing your air cleaner.....will be a standard maintenence item for me now that i have experienced the improvement.

2) not sure if this is allowed or not, but i have run a particular brand of extra strength injector cleaner through a couple of tanks, and wowsers lol....motomaster/CT of all products lol....stuff is 5 star rated and really works.

What is the name of that fuel injector cleaner?

Fuel system cleaners containing polyether amines are most effective at cleaning. PEA cleans without leaving behind its own deposits as solvent based cleaners do. PEA was co-developed by Chevron and BMW, and is mentioned by at least one SAE paper to be very effective. Chevron Techron, Gumout Regane, and Redline SI-1 are some examples of fuel system cleaners containing PEA.
