copying this over from general......

greetings U13 men!so, it's not listed in the sidebar, but there is also a 95 in my family, was the wife's when new, now driven by our daughter who is at school in NorCal. Anyway, it's about to hit 120k, and I want to go thru the cooling system.my plan is all hoses including heater andthe iacv, thermostat, and new water pump. all for preventative purposes, especially since it may be 6 mos at a time btween her visits back home.

anything I'm overlooking- any stuff to be specifically aware of on this model? What about the pipe b/n waterpump and 'rad hose junction'?is this a sacrificail anode that s/b replaced?

the car has never overheated, coolant serviced every 2 to 3 years max since new.

above the p/s pump under the intake manifold behind the pcv box is a pipe slid into the intake manifold, on that pipe is a Oring that is very common to leak. check to make sure its not leaking. The only way to really see it is to look up from below the car at the small hose looped below it, that is a vaccum line attahed to a vaccum switch screwed into the pipe in question. if you see coolant remenant dripping from that hose that oring is leaking. It is absolutly no fun to replace. The P/s pump would need to be detached from its brakets and pushed toward the firwall to gain access to the pipe from the Right front tire well. If you find you need to replace that oring do not try to pull the pipe out by the vaccum switch attached to the bottom. as a matter of fact dont even touch that vac switch during the replacement ,it breaks very easily.

thanks, NISTECH for the reply. since the car is not here now, and i only have the sketchy sketches of the fsm, here is where i think you are referring to.:a pipe very close to the cyl head on the underside of the 'upper' intake manifold just under and forward of the #1 intake runner. from the fsm, it looks like there is a heater hose at this pipe, and also a thin hose going to the IACV? is this the one? is the vac switch to be careful of on the IACV?
