95 Altima: Question about radio antenna and car stereo controls

I own a 95 Altima which was bought from seller who is no more in contact.

Q1. What kind of antenna does this car have....powered antenna (that which goes up when the radio is turned on and goes down when it is turned off) OR a manual/fixed antenna (that which always stays extended)??The antenna on my car always stays extended so I am not sure if its broken or if it is a fixed antenna. I can provide any details of the car, if needed, to figure that.

Q2. The owners manual says that there are four audio controls that can be controlled by two knobs in the car stereo. "Bass & Treble" when the knobs are pulled out and rotated and "Fade & Balance" when the knobs are pushed inside and rotated.I never got to figure out the "Fade & Balance" part. That never happens. When I push the knobs inside and rotate, it still controls "Bass & Treble". What is the problem??
