95 300zx timing belt..

HI, I have a 1995 300zx 2+2 with very low miles ( 21,200 ) Car is like brand new, has been lightly driven and always garaged. Should I have the timing belt changed based on the fact the car is twelve years old? Thanks.

If the timing belt was replaced at the Nissan dealer there will be a little silver "mirror finish" timing notation sticker stating when the belt was replaced. Also, you can call a Nissan dealer and give them the vin# and they can tell you when the last service was done and maybe a little history on the vehicle as well (ie, PTU recall, 60K, 120K, injector recall, etc)

If it was done by a non-dealer, it's anyones guess. You would have to pull off one of the timing covers to inspect the timing belt. Check out the teeth of the timing belt for wear/feathering/cracks/etc. Usually if all the markings on the smooth side of the belt are heavily worn, it may be that time.

Sorry to say, but until you look you won't know unless you have some type of documentation of it being done. The

Well it says in the driver's manuel to change the timing belt either every 60k miles/4 years, which ever comes first.
