95 240sx - What burns and smells sweet?

254,xxx on the car - KA24de stock - 5spd MT

I'm not sure if my car is burning oil, transmission fluid or something else, but every so often I can smell something sweet (to me at least) actualy burning and I can't pinpoint it.

Can anybody help me out here?

I know that I already have a small oil leak around the oil pan gasket/front/rear main shield area and sometimes that smokes if it gets too hot, but they wanted 500 bucks to replace it. WTF?! Wonder if they'll do it way cheaper if I get the parts myself, they overcharged on parts.

Talking to another friend about the subject, could be coolant, but the levels are fine. Slowly burning I suppose.

mines the same way, except the coolant is noticiably going down and nothing else is, so thats my guess!

FYI: Power steering fluid may give you a sweet smelling odor when it burns off on the header or exhaust manifold. Personally that smell makes me

smell around your wheels, brakes can have a funny smell like that if they are seized up. It could possibly be your clutch also.

Maybe it's the shift boot. That boot is pretty much the only thing that blocks the smell of transmission fluid from getting into the cabin. Pull out the shifter and console to check it.

Anitfreeze smells sweet, if you can smell it inside the cabin area I would have a look at your heater core to check for leaks.
