Hi everyone, im having some trouble with my s14 bucket. This car was an automatic in the beginning, but I bought it converted to a 5sp using a 98 240sx transmission. At first the car was shifting perfectly but then one day outta nowhere it started to get harder and harder to get it into gear while i was driving and also when im not moving at all, just idling. It only does this when the car is turned on btw. Anyways every now and then the transmission will act as if nothing is wrong with it and other times its a b**** cause I wont be able to get into gear unless I rev up or down to 2k rpm. Im stumped cause I have no idea wtf the problem is and its been doing this for a few months now. I took off the shifter assembly and found that the bushing for my control lever socket (the very bottom of the shifter) is broken...i think. This is where yall come in to save the day....does that piece being broken affect my transmission from shifting? The way I see it, that bushing has to sit in its housing in the transmission and not move up and down the shifter like it does or else it will cause play in the shifter itself and not allow the bottom of the shifter to properly engage into whatever gear you want. Someone please either correct me or advise me on what to do Last thing, it does it for every single gear....reverse is the biggest pain in the a** to get into, I have to slam it into it.
