I have a 1995 240SX that was ghettofied by the previous owner and I am attempting to rescue/repair from that. Much has been done, much still to go. That's a side issue.

I have a Pioneer stereo with Navigation that I have put in the car. Checked the FSM and ran down wires to the ECM for the Vehicle Speed Sensor. As I understand it the Yellow wire with the Green stripe is the VSS. In order for the Nav system to have the best 3D modeling, you need to tap into the VSS. I have done so as prosrcibed by the installation manual. It comes up with zero speed pulses while driving.

Is there another place that I may tap into the VSS. The car was originally automatic and has been converted to manual, if that matters at all. There are other bad wiring things probably going on with the car. The speedometer does work, which would lead me to believe that I could tap into it on the back side of the gauge cluster. If that is an acceptable solution, can anyone tell me which wire and on which of the plugs on the back of the gauge cluster it might be?

Thanks in advance.

The speed signal comes from the VSS and is translated by the gauge cluster then runs to the ECU. If your gauge is getting a signal on your dash, then you either have the wrong wire or you have the wire before it gets to the gauge cluster. Try that out.
