to make a long story short,

before ram air setup 26/27 miles to the gallon with stock air boxwith ram air setup 20/21 miles to the gallon

I removed the custom ram air piping and drove a full tank and it's still 20/21 WITHOUT the ram air setup.

Am i running rich now? What did i do wrong? What can i do to fix this.

95 240sx se 5spd

Thanks in advanced.

I highly doubt you were getting that kind of milage out of your car prior to the install of the intake. Your second number sounds much closer to normal fuel economy in a 240.

I wouldn't be so sure. I get 24mpg mixed driving, with an intake, a header, and a 3" cat and catback.

My guess is that if something is actually wrong, you bunged up the MAF when you were messing with everything there.

I probably do too I dont know I dont drive it enough to know. I have probably ony put gas in it 3 times since I bought it in may. I havent filled it up yet either. I have 2 other cars I drive more often. [non nissans] Right now I dont have any of the emissions solonoids on the car and an open vaccum line off the throttle body , ported vaccum so it is running slightly lean which the o2 tells the ecm and the ecm richens it up a bit to try and compensate, therefore crappy gas milage.

maybe....just maybe the ram air intake wasnt the problem. did that thought ever cross your mind. Or maybe you're just imagining this whole problem all together.

Did u check your foot for lead to see if that is the problem with your gas milage. If u got a lead foot u will have to keep filling the tank up. i know that one for sure.

You probably did get 26 miles to the gallon with an SR20 because the SR20 is a turbo motor and turbo motors get better gas mileage. The whole more air less fuel thing that comes withn a turbo setup. I would think you'd know that with all them posts.

uh, no. turbo motors do not necessarily get better mileage. The more time you spend in boost, you can see your fuel tank gauge go down like a prostitute on a client.

Your maf could have bad contacts and disrupted its clean connection when you installed the ram intake. That or the maf's hotwire could have gotten dirty. Did you do any cleaning?
