on a 5 spd would the transmission range sensor be a problem the same way as a automatic? ik in a automatic it would mess with the gears shifting but would it be the same case in standard

Sounds like your talking about a throttle position sensor, And the TPS is used for more than just shift points, So yes if have one then its important.

What problems are you having?

the car isnt having any problems. i scanned my car a couple days ago and all i picked up was a 02 sensor needed to be replaced, then i brought it to this kid yesterday and he said something about a transmission range sensor. but i know that the sensor is mainly for automatic cars, cuz standard cars your controlling the gears.unless this kid was trying to buy my car for cheaper
