I just got the car last sunday, drove it home and it ran great. Got up monday and it will not start. It turned over very slow. I checked the oil and it was about a quart low and it looked really thick and black so I changed the oil. Now it turns over normally (or at least faster) but will not start. The car has really high miles (176K) but was rebuilt at (110K) or so I was told. I checked the rotor button and dist. cap they appear burnt. I have ordered them but it will be tomorrow before I get them. The first time you try to start it after letting set for a few hours It sounds like it will start but then as soon as I let off of the key it dies. :help

This is my first Nissan so I really don't know anything about them yet. My wife's Acura did this and it was the coil. Is the coil in the dist. on Nissan's? How do I check the coil? Thanks for any and all help.

One more quick question how do you know if it has a LSD? It is a 95 SE but does not have ABS.

It looks like you are in TN. It's probably been pretty cold and if the vehicle is turning over slowly the battery or it's cable ends maybe bad. When the battery is low or bad on a fuel injected eng.the eng. may not fire do to weak or no spark at the plugs and this can flood the plugs. I would pull the plugs and see if they are wet with fuel and check the battery and the connections. If a battery is going to fail it will be more likely to happen in cold weather. The diff can be check by a 'V' in the rear diff # r200v number on the firewall or info plate in drivers door jam or just jack both rear wheels off the ground and turn one wheel and if the other goes in the same direction it has lsd.

Sounds like the engine is way too rich, just like Dr. John mentioned--the cylinders are filling with gas and it's leaking down past the rings into your oil pan. Careful! Too much fuel in there at once and you will hydrolock. It isn't the pressure regulator. On some cars, you can hold the pedal all the way to the floor while you start the car, and this will tell the computer to shut off all fuel flow to the cylinders. But I don't know if your car is the same way. If your car isn't wired this way, then doing so will make things worse. Dr. John, Reverend D?
