Sounds good to me. For plugs run BKR6E-11 for NA and BKR7E-11 for boosted KA. Flush and fill you PS. Refill with ATF, don't ask why it says that in the FSM. Run Mobile 1 5w30 until 65K miles then run 10w 30 from then on. Also don't forget to flush and fill the radiator and the diff. That is all I can think of.base9se wrote:I have read some of the past forums and they mostly call out the following:
1.) Fuel Filter (91 NA 300zx) 2.) Spark Plugs 3.) Spark Plug Wires 4.) Air Filter (K & N filter cleaner) 5.) Distributor Cap & Rotor 6.) O2 sensor (mine goes bad about every 3 months, http://nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=83959) 7.) Transmission Fluid 8.) Differential Fluid 9.) Oil & Oil Filter (Mobil 1 5W-30) 10.) PCV Valve? 11.) Coolant (already changed) 12.) Brake Fluid (will be changed this weekend)
Am I missing anything else? What brand would you guys recommend? Where can I order some of the parts on the net (cause I really don't have time to find & buy the parts on weekdays)?
What's the big difference about running 5w-30 than 10w-30? Just viscosity right? Meaning better gas mileage using the 5w-30.98s14inaz wrote:Run Mobile 1 5w30 until 65K miles then run 10w 30 from then on.
I drive like in GTA... Nah, not really, but I'll change to thicker oil to get ready for the winter months ahead.98s14inaz wrote:When the engine starts to get older you should use a little heavier oil especially if you drive it like you stole it.
Belts have been done 6 months ago. Water pump changed a month ago. Fan Clutch has not been changed yet. What tell tell signs that it's time for the clutch fan to be changed?Ceptos wrote:if you have a lot of miles a belt and water pump install might not be a bad idea, maybe a fan clutch while you are at it.
I was just saying as a rule of thumb that if your motor is over 65k miles you should use 10w30 instead of 5w30. The 5w30 is too thin and runs through older motors like prune juice.BadMojo wrote:I always thought you'd use something like a 5w30 if you lived somewhere very cold. Something like a 10w30 would probably be too thick at cold startups if you live somewhere that can see temperatures too far down below zero. I always run a lighter eight oil in the winter.
As the other poster said, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Someone page Fred! He's our resident motor oil expert.base9se wrote:Great now you guys are confusing me:squint . Someone who knows, please reply for a correct justification.
