-Car is all stock except for radio

I've been having a problem lately with starting my car, so I took it to pepboys and had them check it. They said it was the alternator so I had them replace it. So I drive home and then when I come back out and try and start the car... nothing happens, no click, nothing. So I open the hood and I begin with these two wires comming off the positive lead of the battery.

I could not find them in the repair manual so I figured I would just unplug them and plug them back in. Well it started up, and what it boils down to is that a poor connection in the wires will not let me start my car at times. Also, whilst driving, hitting big bumps with either shut off my radio, headlights, or my guages. They almost immidietly come back on but I would really like to know where these wires go too before something bad may happen.

-Its the one with the split sleeve

I was planning on just taking the wires out and replacing it with new wire. Can someone give me any guesses as to what it may be and if I should just go ahead and replace them? Thanks

Normally its the actual terminal that hooks to the post of the battery that is bad, not the actual wires/cables themselves.... I would replace the terminal first before trying to replace the wires.... Normally when you replace the wires you can strip a little off to get a nice solid connection!
