If the windows are open and the car is locked and you flip the lock button manually it will set off the alarm....

Is that a standard feature or is it on SE or optional?

Just the other day I was at the gas station. I had the windows partially rolled down and the doors locked. I tried to open the gas door but the window was in the way so I reached down and manually unlocked the door from the outside reaching in. Just then, the alarm went off, the horn was honking and the high beams flashing. I didn't know what to do so I locked the car quickly and inserted my key into the hole and unlocked it from the outside. Then the alarm ceased. It was strange incident.

I believe that some 95 S14 SE's came with an option of remoteless security system. This thread reminded me about my gas station incident so tonight, I'll look into the owner's manual and read more about this function.

It also does that with the hood. I went to the street races and poped my hood and locked the doors. About 10 minutes later I wnet to show some folks my engine and the alarm thingie went off. I had to run over to the door and turn the key (only way to turn it off). It seems to work fairly well, you turn it on by locking the doors, and if the doors are opend without the door being unlocked by the key it will sound the alarm.

I'm taking this from the Nissan 240SX 1995 Owners Manual. I found it in the glove compartment when I bought my car. I wish I found a FSM in the trunk instead. Ah well.

Theft Warning

The theft warning system provides visual and audio alarm signals if parts of the vehicle are distrubed.

How to activate the theft warning system
  1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  2. Close all window. Close and lock all doors, hood and trunk lid. The doors can be locked either with or without the key.[/list=1]

The system can be activated even if the windows are open.
    • Confirm that the indicator light comes on. The light will glow for about 30 seconds and then go out. The system is now activated. If, during this 30 second time period, the door is unlocked or the ignition key is turned to "ACC" or "ON", the system will not activate.
    CAUTION:

    · If the key is turned slowly when locking the door, the system may not activate. Furthermore, if the key is turned excessively to the unlock position, the system my be deactivated when the key is removed. If the indicator light fails to glow for 30 seconds, unlock the door once and lock it again.

    · Even when the driver and/or passengers are in the vehicle, the system will activated with all doors, hoods, trunk lid and back door locked and the ignition key off.

    Theft warning system operation

The warning system will give the following alarm:

    · The headlights blink and the horn sounds intermittently. In addtion, the starter motor will not operate.

    · The alarm automatically turns off after 2 to 3 minutes; however, the alarm iwll reactivate if the vehicle is tampered with again.

    The alarm is activated by:

    · Opening the door or trunk lid without using the key (even if the door is opened by releasing the door inside lock knob) or opening the turnk lid or back door by operating the opener lever.

    · Opening the hood.

    How to stop alarms

The alarm will stop only by unlocking the door or trunk lid with the key. The alarm will not stop if the ignition switch is turned to "ACC" or "ON".

If the system does not operate as described above, have it checked by your NISSAN dealer.

i think mine came with a aftermarket alarm cuz mine is a 95 base model but with a wireless lock doors/disarm alarm remote. and it make all types of noises when it goes off like laser beams, multiple sirens, and honking noises. and i was never really clear on how to activate and deactivate the thing. when it goes off i just push every button i see and unlock the doors with the keys.

i assume ur talking about the security feature. basically when u lock ur doors with the key out of the ignition for 30 secs the security feature will be armed and when someone tries to pop the hood, unlock a door(with out keys), or open the trunk or gas tank, the horn will honk in an attemp to scare off a intruder.
