OkMy 1995 S14 has a problem with intermittent griding of gears, primarily during the 2-3 shift, reverse, and 1st gear.
The tranmission is 'new' ~100k miles with a clean gear set that was swapped into my current bellhousing. The clutch is new, and the only other problem I can see is the clutch pedal has short travel and needs to be adjusted
My initial though was it was the synchros but during shifts sometimes its very difficult to shift into gear so I double clutch but it doesnt help at all. The problem is random, maybe 3 times a day (50 miles) and is bugging me
The shop that the transmission came from is saying its probably my driveshaft bearings because in the past I had major subframe bushing issues that caused my subframe to move up and down 1/4-1/2 inch.
Its a bit complicated but I'm wondering what possible issues are there out there to cause transmission grinding issues other than synchros?
Can a bad clutch master/slave cause trans grinding?Misadjusted clutch pedal?bad driveshaft bearings?transmission mounts?
let me know if you can help me out!
thanks!
