95 240sx Fuel pump issue

hey guys

i have a slight issue with my 95 240sx's fuel pump. the car is all original as far as i can tell, with the ka24de motor. was having issues with running going down a street and it would random just buck and die, then come back and die just randomly. so swapped out the fuel filter and check the batt and spark, decided it might be the fuel pump. i pulled it however it doesnt match the new one i got from napa or any other car part site. the one that came out of the car is A42-650016, i normally would put the new one in but the filter sock would be backwards and im pretty sure it wont fit in the tank.

my question is this common? did someone swap the tank out to a different one? (cause this pump fits a 88-93 200sx, infinity g20 and j30) should i try to hunt down that pump?

If you have a '95 and the pump fits a '93 well of course the part could have changed.......................

so some how i got an older pump? and nissan swapped to a different style with a different pickup tube?

if thats the case. should i stick with the original if i can find it? or change over to the new style with a new pickup tube?
