I replaced the broken depressor pad on the back of the clutc pedal and replaced the clutch interlock switch at the same time. I adjsuted so the rubber pad made solid contact. I could have saved the money when I tested the old one with my ohm meter it opens and closes everytime. I thought maybe the clutch pedal shaft and broken stopper rubber(Nissans Term) may have damaged the old one. I hoped replacing these two parts would fix the problem. It didn't so I'm back here looking for an electrical mechanic who may have seen this type of problem before.
Symptoms.
1.Igniton key activates all 4 relays located in the intrior fuse box. They click every time the key is turned.2. Sometimes when the starter doesn't engage there is a buzzer sound. All 4 relays click. Sometimes the sound is weak some times stronger. I can't fully locate it because I'm not a midget, nor a contortionist. It does seem to be coming from up to the right of the steering colum once again I can't be sure . I can't keep it going long enough to get my hands up into that area to feel for vibrations. So the buzzer sound is also an intermittent happening. My pdf manual page EL 88 shows a warning buzzer located at harness connector M31 but there is so much in the way I can't see it. I can only see the one buzzer located at the bottom left edge of the dash near the clutch pedal mounting area. Could this problem be caused by a bad buzzer/relay? Is there more than one buzzer for all of these warning systems? Page EL 99 shows diodes and a single buzzer. So i'm confused by the wiring diagram and then the parts listing.3. Turning the ignition off and on/starting postion repeatedly will sometimes start the car 2 or 3 times in a row before it fails again. Each time it fails all interior relays click each time the starter doesn't engage. The buzzer may or may not sound. Relays click no buzzer eventually after several tries the buzzer wil begin to soun. There is a Brown relay on the bottom and then 3 blue ones. They look exactly like the Blue ones in the relay box under the hood.
Given the frequency of failure is it possible to be a bad relay or is it a starter problem or is it the igniton switch itself? My son has often remarked that the key has always very warm/hot to the touch when removed from the igniton. Is there an easy way to check this?
I am at the point of giving it to someone who thinks they know what they are doing becasue I have proved that I cerainly don't know what 'm doing. Shade treeing in Florida in 100 degree heat isn't helping my disposition any either. I started a 6 am and gave up about 30 minutes ago when I began thinking about commiting mayhem of the gruesomest sort.
