Hey pplz...my 95 240sx a/t has a weird problem.

Ok this is the situation, 1 day I went to start up my 240, and it started up fine, but wen I took it for a drive it wouldn't shift gears and an a/t is suppose to shift gears on its own while in drive. So the rpm kept on over rev'n and the car wouldn't go over 30 mph. So I brought it back home and let it sit for a day or 2. So 2 days later I started it up again and the car worked fine. But 2 days after that the problem came back while I was driving, so I pulled over and turn off the car and waited. I got the car to work fine again and drove it home after the wait. But Now the car won't start up, but it crankz. It seems like it wants to start but it just dies after....Can any1 help me wit this

Sounds to me like either your transmission has died on you or your ECU is fried. Do you have a CEL? How many miles do you have on the car? The fact that it wont shift up points to the transmission issue, check your transmission fluid level. The fact that the car cranks but wont turn over could be either your ECU or you have a problem with yor ignition or fuel. Tsake it to a shop and get a diagnostic run on it otherwise you could be chasing problems for days.

Hey thanx for the help, but now my car starts now when I jus left it there for 2 day. I didn't do anything to it yet and it jus starts up. Do u think it could b the transmission fluid?

could be, check it. It should be a deep cherry red, anything darker means you should change it.

Looks like an intermittent problem with either the fuel or ignition. Next time it doesn't start, check each plug wire for ignition by using a spare spark plug; with a plug wire connected, lay the plug on the valve cover and look for a spark when turning the motor over.

If that's OK, do a quick check for fuel like this:disconnect the fuel hose from the top of the fuel filter and insert a long length of spare hose into the top of the fuel filter with the other end draped over the fender going into a catch can placed on the ground. Now turn the ignition key to the run position but DO NOT START THE ENGINE. You should see fuel going into the can at a good rate for several seconds.

The ATF is checked while the motor is idling; make sure the transmission is fully warmed up.

Hey here's another question. Would u think the radiator could come in to play here? I mean before all the problem happen I noticed that my temp drops when ever I accelerate the car or wen I use the heat. So do u think the radiator might also b the problem cuz it might not warm up the transmission fluid?

I don't see how it could be your Radiator. It cools the ttransmisison fluid, not warm it. Atleast thats how I understand it. YOur engine should get cooler when you turn the heat on as it gets it's heat from the motor. Do you have an engine light on? YOu should check the codes and check the fluid like was said earlier. I wonder if a vaccum leack could cause the shifting problems.

You could also have a bad starter, your car will crank but not start when it starts to go bad, then when it finally does die its like you have a dead battery it wont turn over at all. So you could have a bad trans (go for the 5 speed swap, you'll have a lot less headaches in the future and you can replace or rebuild it yourself no need having to pay some one to do it like you have to do with an automatic) and a bad starter ( an absolute PITA to replace). My best advice is take itsomewhere and get a diagnostic run on it. You may have bought yourself ademon filled car.
