hey guys,

my 95 240sx sometimes bogs down and bucks really bad under partial throttle. it actually cut off on my while driving the other day. today it bucked real bad but didn't turn off, ran smooth the rest of the way home from work. I checked the codes (it is giving me a cel) and they are 34- knock sensor and 41- intake air temperature sensor. Will these make the car run crappy like that?

Yes the knock sensor will make it run rich and slugish, the iat will make it run like crap.

Check your timing.

What kind fuel are you using? And also how hot was it that day?

don't know how to check my timing, I can do belts, water pump, etc but no timing...

I was thinking the bad intake air temp sensor could be causing the car to run rich/lean, causing the knock that the sensor is picking up. it's been crazy hot too, 100+ here in Austin Tx. I was hoping to run it by a few folks to see what they think, if I replace the iac I'd be at a loss for what to do if that didnt work... trying to avoid taking it to a shop and paying that 100 dollar diagnostic, lol

My 95 does the same thing. There has been no check engine light, but there is still a knock sensor error coming up on the scan tool. My air fuel ratio has been off, running really rich at times but sometimes it is fine. It doesnt do it all the time, has been doing it off and on for awhile though. Is it possible to disconect the sensor till i get another one, how would it drive?

A disconected knock sensor will throw the same code and cause the same issue.

is it possible replacing the iat will fix the whole problem? seems like the knock sensor throwing a code doesn't mean the knock sensor is bad, but that there is knock caused by bad air/fuel mix which could be caused by the intake air temp sensor... not sure, guess I may try replacing that and if it doesn't correct the problem I may have to take it in... at least then I'll know what it's NOT, lol

Well guess i wont do that then. How does the knock sensor work? Wat does it measure, mils (vibration)? The plastic around my knock sensor is cracked, so ill be replacing that. Hopefully will take care of it.

I want to bypass the knock sensor for trouble shooting purposes. Ive read that adding a 1M ohm resister to the circuit will do this. Whats the best way to do this? Thanks.
