95 240sx auto transmission problem

this car is bone stock,after turn on the engine, the "O/D off" light will flash 16 times then go off. while driving, the transmission won't shift up unless you reach red line...Does that mean it's time to change the transmission ? this happened after i wash the engine room..... maybe it's has something to do with this problem.

I found some topic about flashing OD lights...but that's for a 92 240...are they the same?thanks

Yes, washing the engine compartment without protecting the harness connectors can cause major problems. Check out the TPS harness connector for moisture and oxidation of the pins; the TPS has a direct effect on how the auto transmission will shift.

thanks a lot.... when i unplug the TPS....a lot of water comes out...

and then...it runs like nomal...but OD lights still flashing(who cares...)

I rinsed down the engine bay on my '93 240 SX with an auto transmission 3 weeks ago, then did not drive the car for about 2 weeks. Now when driving it, I have to let off the gas (like driving a manual) for the car to upshift. Where is the TPS Harness and what does it look like? Maybe I've got the same issue with damp connectors.
