It is intermittent, a mechanics nightmare, It only buzzes if the ignition doesn't engage the starter. You can keep trying and eventually the buzer sound stops when the starter is engaged. However, it doesn't buzz everytime it fails to engage the starter. Sometimes there is no sound at all, just the key turning in the ignition. The sound is under the dash to the right of the steering column. At first I though it was in the column or close to the igniton. I can't see anything there but it could be covered up. It reminds me of one of those old key buzzers. Forget the key and it buzzed. A raucous sound, not the pleasant ding, ding or a cultured voice saying, I believe you've neglected to remove your keys from my ignition. Please do so at all possible speed.
Today I found pieces of the plastic pad from the back of the clutch pedal. I don't know how long it's been broken but it seeemed intact the other night when I looked at /felt it. The surface and circumference seemed to be intact at that time. There is just half of it still attached. I noticed that the center has an open depression almost like a hole opened up. That may be why it broke apart and why this problem began, however, I am still puzzled as to why it duplicated the problem when I held the plunger down with my hand and turned the key, several times with either the buzzer sound or silence. A trip to the dealer, wahoo. . For the past two days it started almost everytime. If it failed I just punched down the clutch again and it usually started on the 2nd or 3rd attempt. I've spent the larger ammount of time getting rid of a belt squeal at about 3500 rpm. I thinik it was the alternator belt, but I tightened the water pump belt again too. I was under the car so why not?
Have you ever seen a full size van B250 work van fall off of a lift? Not a pretty sight but it made one heck of a splat. Sorry sir, another one of those coming up fresh right now. Take just a minute.
