Got a used remote off eBay and I am having trouble getting it to work. I have the programming instructions but:

1. FCC code is A2 ....078 - is this right (saw another post where it seemed it should end in 073 - where are these codes listed?)

2. Procedure refers to a "beep" but I do't hear a beep no matter how long I hold down the button.

3. Car has a Viper system in it which I put in valet mode. Does this matter?

Thanks,

Don

i think the one you want is the 073, those seem to be a bitt harder to find than the 078's.

i bought a 073 off of e-bay and it works fine.

i believe the 'beepers' are Ja073 [as opposed to ua073], that part doesn't matter, but the 073 does.

don't know about interactive effects.

one other tip when you finally get so far as programming: after you do the routine and manually unlock/lock the drivers front door, you press any button on the remote you want to program EXACTLY ONE time. don't expect any 'confirmation' at this point. if you are doing a second remote, it is IMPARATIVE that you unlock/lock and now push a button on the second remote exactly one time. if you push a second time on a remote during activation, it will indeed do what you told it to do [confirming your success at learning that code set], but you are then locked out from programming any additional remotes until you do it all over again.

For some unknown reason, the beeps sometimes stop working (after working fine initially)! This happened to my remotes on my 1995 Q45. Here is my old thread on that: zerothread?id=8400.

As I recall, when I checked with the Infiniti dealer, they said that they had seen it and did not know the cause. Only cure they had was to buy new remotes - for quite a bit of money, of course! This was back a few years ago, and I doubt new ones are still available.

So, older used ones, from eBay or other places, tend to already be in that mode (no beep) already and no known repair!

Neither of my 1995 remotes beep, and one car is early and the other later in the production run.

Thanks guys. (What I like about this forum is the quality of the replys.) I found a site that confirms that what I want is 073. The eBay lister said it would work with 94-2000 Infiniti cars. I am asking for my money back and I know what to look for now.

Thanks,
