Has anyone seen the 94 Q on Ebay....it's out of Ft. Lauderdale..

Has 81k miles.... I don't want to start bidding against other members, but this is a car I am interested in... doesn't quite fit the bill, I would prefer a 97-99, but this would be ok, if the price is right.

Of course, I am leaving myself about 1200 bucks for spark plug and fluid changes..

Thanks, guys...

Update on my 90..... transmission approaching 2k miles since 4th gear slippage began. 158700 on it.... no changes in the transmission...

Keep it locked in 3 as much as possible to avoid slippage.

thanks, fred....I keep it in third..and only upshift to drive when I am cruising on a flat interstate.... you can cruise in the gear...you just can't accelerate.... i am impressed that I've gotten almost 2k miles out of it so far....

symptoms:

I was due for a 30k fluid exchange.... actually it was about 32k..I had my transmission replaced by the dealer at 93k... so about 156k I take it in.

I leave the transmission place and it shifts second to third, third to drive. Everything is ok...but when I try to accelerate in drive...it revs up to about 3700 rpms, then I think it grabs or downshifts back into third.

I am miffed.... I take it back and they change the filter and flush it again. No change... the magnet has a decent amount of clutch material on it.... the filter seems clean...

I get it flushed yet again... no change...

It upshifts properly and downshifts properly....just no grabbing or torque in drive.

I can't explain it much more than that..... 158700 miles or so.... in pretty decent shape, but not worth the money for a new transmission....

I guess ultimately it would be a good donor or parts car.... if I find the right Q replacement.... I would probably give it to my 16 year old son and see if he could nurse it for awhile....

Actually I am driving it fairly aggressively, but not in 4th or drive.... I may upshift to drive at 60 on the interstate....but if I have to go uphill, I either keep the pedal steady and watch the speed slowly go down or downshift....to avoid the slipping...

Have you tried any additives? Lucas makes aprety stout honey-like additive. I have used it in several cars.

I got 35,000 miles out of my old '93 Honda, changing the oil every 10,000 miles, and adding a $6 bottle. It drove fairly normal for about 5,000 miles, then I would nurse it for about 5,000 miles, and do the exchange. When I sold the car, it was still runing fine. I gave the new owner a new bottle of it, and one for the motor oil, as well.

Another thing I do, is pop the car in N, at every red light, and any time you are coasting, to eliminate the slipping at low RPM's. I am not sure this makes a big difference, but I have 63,000 miles on my cheap $1,900 transmission rebuild in my '94 Q
