I just recently bought a new MAF, connector housing and crimp terminals from Joe. I went ahead and installed the MAF but when I was removing the electrical tape around the harness, lo and behold, the soldering was crappy. There was a butt spliced in one wire and the strands of wire were cut. One wire was spliced with a larger gauge wire (16AWG).

Anyway, I want to replace this harness with new wires but didn't know the actual wire type specs. I went thru the FSM and didn't see any. I've looked up the JASO standards and there are numerous insulation materials. I'm tempted to use UL1015 or UL1007 wires but I know there is a right wire specs available (voltage, current, insulation thickness, etc).

We have use both wire types in automotive application but most applied as return wires. Once identified I can readily buy the wires from Digikey, Mouser or electronics hardware stores.

Thanks!!

Very interesting question... I have no idea, but maybe someone will know? Might be easier to find a salvage Q and chop some of it's wiring harness out vs. figuring out the specs...

hey Percy-I don't know the specifics. what i can say is that the MAF is not very high current. It IS however a small differential voltage type device. I'd say proper grounding/shielding of the harness is key.
