Hey guys, Ive been on this site for years but old username failed... Q recently developed a strong vibration above 3K. (140k miles on her) Same in neutral or driving (not driveshaft/transmission) replaced plugs 5k ago, injectors replaced 3 years ago and are in spec, TB is clean, MAF connector is good. Motor mounts "seem" OK with little engine vibration when revving. Only recent service was waterpump--and the pulley does vibrate/oscillate more than old one.

Pulled ECU codes and showed 45 and 34. Injector leak and knock sensors. I replaced #1 injector (was at 18 ohms) and drove the car; same problem. But this time the code is 55 (no problems). I'm thinking TC or some injection issue. Car idles fine (no hunting) but does have slight tremor. Good power but shakes. Haven't done PB test or consult.

Thanks for any ideas!

have the ks been replaced? 140k is past due.have you looked at your fan? since you say related to waterpump service, might look for fan breakage, fan clutch being jacked, missing bolt from fan clutch to wp flange as possible vibration sources. oh, and the obvious: belt, idler mis installed/maladjusted.other guess: water in spark plug hole/loose spark plug.

what is 'TC'

I talked to a tech at T3 who thought that it might be the torque converter. I'm still not sure though. No the KS have not been replaced. I have had the plenum off for injector replacement; so it should be no problem. I was going to replace them this weekend until the last ECU code showed 55.

I have replaced the plastic cooling fan but the water pump pulley is shaking more than the OEM one did. (I installed an Orielly reman unit last week) Could that cause the intense vibration above 3K under acceleration?

BTW, Thanks Wes for getting my ligin fixed!

Update: I took off the water pump belt and started the car--no shaking! It's amazing how much vibration a little pulley wobble can make. I replaced the water pump and it runs great.

Thanks for the help.
