hey guys, well i just bought myself a set of 6 1/2 Polk db6501 and another set of 6 1/2 Polk mm651 both has 100 RMS and 250-350 Peak Power. my question is how come i'm not getting any strong bass from my speaker. its odd because my Corolla i have a 60 RMS Polk Audio db651 and the bass sounds really loud and clear.

i have no amp nor do i have subwoofer on neither of my cars. could someone help me out cause i just can't find a way to make the bass stronger without using amp nor subs. i mean it sounds so flat with just treble and no bass...

could be the wiring or something. Unless you have a different head unit in the cars. I would buy a tiny amp and wire it in.

You need an amp. There is no head unit that's going to get close to pushing the constant wattage you need to get good sound from those speakers. I would suggest a decent 4 channel amp and don't skimp on the amp wiring kit. You can get great sound from a 40 to 50 watt per channel amp from those speakers. It will be a world of difference.

1. Could be that you have one or more of the speakers wired wrong. Just check and make sure that all are hooked up right, both at the speaker itself and at the head unit.

2. They are underpowered. You need at least a small amp.

3. They are not enclosed. You get better base when the speakers, even small 6X9, are in an enclosed area. But there isnt much we can do about that, cause there really isnt any room to do that in the side of the car where the speakers are.

So, with all that said, it might get better if you get and amp and check the wires, but you wont get anything amazing out of them. Just add a cheap 10 to the trunk and you'll at least hear some of the lower notes.

Sorry I have 2 10s in the trunk. You could play with your head unit a little to make the bass seem more prevalent. I do that a lot actually.
