I have been having some problems lately with my 94 q,when im driving at around 40 or so and i hit the gas the car just revs up to about 3000 rpm's like the transmission is slipping. But when i am going this same speed if i shift it into 3rd and hit the gas it doesnt slip.the only time it slips is when it is in drive, if i shift it through the gears no slippage.Has anyone ever had this problem and also to me it seems like an electronic issue because of the way it only slips in drive. Any suggestions????? thanks

I know that this will not be a popular answer, but I had the same problem and I added Lucas Transmission Fix fluid; which fixed the problem. Also it might be helpful to drop the pan on your transmission and change out the fluid; especially before the weather starts getting warmer. Good Luck!

I hope you are coasting down hill if you are in D at 40.

How about a little transmission maintenance history?

id go ahead and install a cooler and throw some lubeguard in there.. If it kills the trans so what, you're probably on the last 5% of its life anyway!!! Id start saving for a new trans.

i've had the car since about mid april 2006 and i have changed the fluid once.I'm going to try a filter change and some trans fix fluid or something and see what happens. For now i just leave it in 3rd when i drive it because all of the other gears are fine.Called some trans shops they said the 4th gear clutch packs are probably burnt out, which is weird because i'd imagine that my 2nd gear clutch packs would be worse.who knows. thanks for the suggestions

Define "Changed the fluid", please.

The Lucas stuff is junk. The only fluids in the transmission should be ATF, Lubegurad red, and BG Quickclean during transmission flushes.

Can't recall a post about how the BG fluid compared to others. It is interesting to note that Q45tech always used M1 when he ran a high stress synthetic ATF.

I think one has to be pretty attuned to shift bevhavior and torque converter lockup to tell if Lube Guard Red is required. 6 0z. is the normal dose with M1.

There msut be some data on the web that would allow you to cmopare both ATF.
