I heard you can install a 94 tcu on a 90-93 Q45. When you install it you can start off from fisrt gear instead of D. What are the after effects if any and are there any downfalls?

Actually it's the 1993 TCU p/n 31036-64U20 or 64U75. The 90-93 had the same transmission, but the 1993 was the only one with 1st gear start. The 1994-1996 had different gearing so the shift points in the TCU/ECU are different.

If you keep the original 90-92 ECU I've herd that you can have some issues at redline when you hit the rev limiter. Conveniently I have a matched pair (ECU and TCU) from a 1993 with no options (Active or TCS) that I'm selling for $300 for the pair.

The going price for just the TCU is about $150-175.
