This weekend Jesda came up to our lake house (longer post coming) and we decided to throw in my 94 TCU into his otherwise bone stock 92...

The cliff notes? It works PERFECT! Shift points are perfect, the transmission **may** shift a little firmer, but its no less smooth, its just more crisp. THe only thing is, it holds just a hair bit mroe at the redline, otherwise it shifts very nicely....

Anyone who wants the first gear start in their 90-93, a 94 or 95 TCU will work! We've both driven his Q Id say at least 30 miles or so with easy driving, WOT, normal, kinda hard, and so forth.... Ive been in the car that much and its just perfect....

Like I say the only thing youll notice is it holds the gear just a TINY bit longer than normal. I really kinda like it because then the car just LURCHES foreward.... Perfect shift points otherwise, whatever I was thinking the car shifted right there, no erratic shifting, didnt hold the gears like they said, it just worked great.

Remember my 94 was really basically a 95, so any 94 or 95 (not 96 because of OBDII) should work dandy!!! We did a sweet burnout today, and that little extra ommph in 1st gear on the 90-93 makes it for burnout madness.... But for the record, after driving a PERFECT running 92 Q (we checked his timing, KS are good!), I cant really say I notice THAT much difference.... Difference? probably, but not that much....

Wes....I noticed the same thing about the TCU swaps. My 95 TCU against my 92 transmission does incur stiffer shifts, but all seems to work just fine. I have a 93 TCU that works just fine and the JWT TCU is the same as the 93 TCU except I have the 7,300 redline now.

Wes...I was wondering if I could borrow or I may just buy your old ECU and use it as a test in my car against the JWT ECU. With your ECU I can run multiple combos all the same day at the 1/4 track test and tune night to see really what the benefits are running the JWT setup.

I would be able to run....

Stock ECU/Stock TCUStock ECU/JWT TCUJWT ECU/Stock TCUJWT ECU/JWT TCU

The we can really see the difference in the JWT products. Also...since your and my car as I recall are about 1 month apart on build date there should not be much of a difference if any at all in programing. I would not be able to do the runs till November.

RSI..... Sure, we can work it out..... Email me, however I forgot to pull my ECU

Is yours a TCS/california model?

As I drove the car more, there is some iffyness on some of the shifts, but really its nothing you would notice unless you think about it...... WHen I did a WOT and redlined in 1st, then started to let off in 2nd, it held off just a touch.....

I forgot your car is a Cali model. I wonder how much difference that makes. Maybe Q45tech knows what would happen if I stuck in a Cali model ECU into a non-Cali car. My car is the TCS.
