This weekend Jesda came up to our lake house (longer post coming) and we decided to throw in my 94 TCU into his otherwise bone stock 92...
The cliff notes? It works PERFECT! Shift points are perfect, the transmission **may** shift a little firmer, but its no less smooth, its just more crisp. THe only thing is, it holds just a hair bit mroe at the redline, otherwise it shifts very nicely....
Anyone who wants the first gear start in their 90-93, a 94 or 95 TCU will work! We've both driven his Q Id say at least 30 miles or so with easy driving, WOT, normal, kinda hard, and so forth.... Ive been in the car that much and its just perfect....
Like I say the only thing youll notice is it holds the gear just a TINY bit longer than normal. I really kinda like it because then the car just LURCHES foreward.... Perfect shift points otherwise, whatever I was thinking the car shifted right there, no erratic shifting, didnt hold the gears like they said, it just worked great.
Remember my 94 was really basically a 95, so any 94 or 95 (not 96 because of OBDII) should work dandy!!! We did a sweet burnout today, and that little extra ommph in 1st gear on the 90-93 makes it for burnout madness.... But for the record, after driving a PERFECT running 92 Q (we checked his timing, KS are good!), I cant really say I notice THAT much difference.... Difference? probably, but not that much....
