I'm replacing the plugs in this car and I decided I would take the TB off to give it a good cleaning, while cleaning the TB off the car I noticed a pc. of braided wire sticking out of one of the hoses, I pulled the hose off and found a long pc. of braided wire with a small tubular brush in the middle of it, is this supposed to be in this hose?

Heheh, yeah, it's supposed to be there. You're not the first guy to freak out about it. I tried searching for the threads about it but couldn't find them.

All is cool.

"Many times such brushes are found in PCV hoses to collect the oil vapor or heavier more dense particles.......they get changed as the hoses get changed ...............kind of an oil catch can in minature."

Thanks, I put it back in the hose. Man was the TB on the backside dirty!! Previous owner must have replaced the plugs before, the coil packs came right off and I didn't see any tie wraps holding the wires together under the black covers. Thanks for the quick responses

Apparantly the brush is only found in models equipped with TCS. Mine didn't have it and it is a standard Q where as my mom's Q has TCS and did have one in it.

I thought when I first saw it that somebody was cleaning out the port and broke off a brush inside. But after pulling it out I figured that it must have been some sort of screen.
