I have owned this Q for almost 20 years and I can't seem to let it go, it is a 4th car at this point but time to get it running perfect.

I know this topic has been addressed but my car not only revs to 6k in first gear without shifting but also freewheels like I am in neutral when I let off the gas! I am coasting at 40mph then sometimes it will kick into second. I would think it would hold the high rpms as it decelerates but it does not. Sometimes as the rpms are dropping it would kick into second and all is good from that point. This shifting problem happens intermittently, in years past I would get "transmission malfunction" warning as well, but have not seen that message lately. Now it is just happening too often and it is time to fix this nagging issue.

I have been dreading the day I would have to replace the revolution sensor because I don't want to drop the transmission! I saw a big debate on whether it can be changed without dropping the transmission. Just reach up blindly with a ratchet? That would save me a huge headache! I can't find that post but I think it was between q45tech and goody90q45?

What is the correct procedure to test the sensor?

Little off topic, I think it is time for new shocks and I want them stiff! Looking for recommendations...

To answer the strut question, I like the stiffer feel of Tokico Blues. The problem we face is I read where Tokico has gone out of business or has extremely cut back on production. Other owners are having problems finding blues for their 94-96 models. Lately, I've not seen many blues around for the 90-93 models. If I can find a set of blues for my 91 model, at some point, I might just buy them to keep in reserve. I had good luck with Monroe on a 280ZX many years ago. So I'm not against Monroe but I doubt they will have the same crisp feel of a Blue.
