I don't see an under plenum hose kit for '94-'96 Q's - I see ultimate engine hose hits, but I don't need to be hosed that much while replacing injectors.

My knock sensors test fine (89K miles), and I'm not sure I need any exterior engine hoses.

What if any differences are there between early and late Q under plenum air and water hoses and gaskets?

Thanks,

Brad

Get the ultimate 94-96 hose kit....you will want to replace every hose you can and also knock sensors while its apart.....unless you dont mind repeating the tremendous labor over and over to go back under the spider to replace things you could have the first time.......touch it ONCE

From reading your other post it looks like you've got #1, #2, and #8 fuel injectors gone bad so you don't need to remove the spider to replace those. Unless you've got a known problem under there I'd replace the 3 bad injectors first and see how she runs. I bet you'll see tremendous improvement and find out the under plenum hoses are fine. You were unlucky to have three dead FI but darn lucky to have it be those 3. You hit the trifecta so take the money you save and go to the races.

Please complete your profile so we know what model and year your car is.

In the previous posts, Wes has an excellent spreadsheet for all the parts including heater and radiator hoses.

qship96:

There is an under plenum hose kit for $245 and an ultimate kit for $900 plus (both for the early model.

I don't see just an under plenum hose kit for the '94-'96. The difference in price between the two kits for the early model is certainly more than knock sensors and harness by more than $300.

I have no idea what is included in the ultimate kit, and I'm currently in the market for a job, so I have asked for some information in order to make an informed decision about injectors and possibly under plenum work.

So far I am getting advice, which while appreciated is not what I asked for.

Maxnix:

I have updated my profile, but have always stated the year and fact I have the "a" model in my posts.

goody94q45:

I am thinking the same thing, but then had the thought that if in fact it is the switch to E90 that has precipitated this problem, and with one more injector at the high end of the "good" range already, that perhaps I would want to put new injectors underneath the plenum and use the existing ones in the 1,2 and 8 positions that can be replaced easily.

Everyone:

I will be doing the labor myself - I have a fully set up shop in my garage and am currently welding new firewall and inner fender panels into a 280ZXT prior to exterior bodywork, paint, putting in and intercooler and Megasquirt along with a swap to a GM 4L60e overdrive automatic with a kit that a friend of mine and I developed for L series Datsun engines.

If the ultimate kit includes clamps, external hoses and such, then I'm not interested in spending the money for that - but I don't know, which is why I asked. If I make a decision to not replace the KS's and harness and it comes back to bite me - fine - more time spent - and possibly a little extra money, but at a time that I am probably able to handle it better.

I looked at the tech article for the spreadsheet but didn't find it there, but did find a post with the spreadsheet in it, but that totals up to around the amount of the ultimate kit.

I simply want to know what specifically is in the ultimate kit besides KS's and harness and the hoses and gaskets needed for under plenum replacement - which apparently is a bit different for the later models as compared to the earlier ones, or why not say the under plenum kit is for all 4,5 Q's?

Once again, appreciate the advice, but am looking for information.

Why not just pick up the phone bright and early monday morning and ask joe to go over the specifics with you so you can make an informed decision. Joe will be happy to answer all your questions and e mail you a diagram of each kit showing part numbers of everything included.
