I recently acquired a '94 Q45a that was taken care of, but it's been sitting for a couple of years. I installed a new battery, and tried to start it...which it did, but I had to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running. I think it's probably the fuel system.

I don't want to go and buy blow cash on parts I don't need, so I figured I'd ask on here for advice on where to start.

I was thinking I should start with replacing the fuel filter, possibly cleaning the injectors and dropping the tank and cleaning that out. Could I just use seafoam for those task? The filter/intake looked pretty clean. Thanks for y'alls time.

:welcome: to NICO!

If you haven't done so, my first step would be to drain the fuel tank and refill it with fresh fuel. The tank is a pain to get out, so I would try using the fuel pump to pump all of the old fuel out by disconnecting the fuel line at the rail, routing it to a bucket or tank, and figuring out how to keep the pump on by sending 12V to it.

If you just have a small amount of fuel in there and have the paitence, you can just cycle the ignition switch off and on and repeatedly... the pump runs for several seconds when you first turn the key on. I once did this to get most of the fuel out of my 1st Q before I sold it... it was wrecked, and I was basically giving it away, so my lawn mowers got good gas that summer :D
