This Q 45 has been sitting for 6 months because of Starter not engaging due to loose contact. They banged on it to start & drive for awhile. I had it towed to my house now here I go again....
First removed battery and put on charger then got under car to view Starter. On the Starter Selenoid was a broken loose cooper fitting that holds the thick wire from the starter. I replaced fitting and crimped the wire securely in it along with another thin wire that was also off. Put it all back on the selenoid bolt then tighten the nut. Maybe this will do it. Put the charged battery back in.Also some missing fuses. Well the car turned over but the battery did not hold charge so it wasnt enough. Then put a good charged battery in and nothing due to the security light flashing. Tried to disarm Security by unlocking doors with ignition key and unlocking trunk but still nothing. Please I need help with my daughters car she is driving me more crazy than her car. Desperate thankyou

When you attempt to disable security with door/trunk lock mechanism, is the hood open or closed?

You might want to try the passenger door lock, as the drivers one could be worn from use and (possibly) cheap non-OEM key use.

Thank you for responding greatly appreciated. Yes I had the hood down passenger door unlocked, drivers door unlocked trunk and nothing ... Today rehook the battery maybe something cleared or reset. Hood shut trunk shut doors shut and hey security light stopped
blinking but still no instrument lights now attempting to see if it will start or turn over or engage anything... Nothing but a faint little click down by glove box (passenger side) soo....
Could it possibly be starter relay had daughter pick one up at Napa yesterday but of course it was not the starter relay just some other blue relay. Ideas?
Thank you again very much

The click noise from the passenger side kick panel area you are hearing is the ECU relay clicking. The starter relay is located next to the black box that is circled in red:

The starter relay is the blue squre by the shock tower.

Thankyou for your quick responses and your help and time. Yes I know where the Starter Relay is, but could this be my no start no turn over no nothing engaging problem?

For the time being hit the starter relay with a rubber mallet or a hammer (GENTLY!) and see fit he car starts up. Crank while hitting the relay.

Ok will try that again thankyou very much should I also hold down the hood button so the car will think the hood is down while gently hitting starter relay and turning key over all sametime?

You can disconnect it if your gentle with the connector or put some electrical tape over it.

Assuming you've gotten "past" the security system issue, can you put a voltmeter on the battery and see what it reads with no load and again while trying to start the car? Also, it would be interesting to see what numbers you get at the starter itself.

Can you get the alarm to sound/flash the lights? Maybe the alarm doesn't really work??

A voltmeter isn't anything fancy, a "basic" digital one should run about $20 from Radio Shack.

Also, make sure you check the fuses both under the dash & hood.

This may help as you go

Thank You, Alarm doesnt sound it flashes on & off until I guess disarm it by unlocking drivers door with key and unlocking passenger door and trunk with key then shut trunk and tape down
hood stem to think hood closed. Close all doors then security light was still flashing until I ran a wire from under the security fuse located under dash to an empty fuse spot next to it. I did that only because my daughter said thats how it always was ever since she got the car? Well the wire made the security stop flashing, but still nothing. Yes my brother has a voltmeter. I downloaded all FSM last night trying to read & comprehend diagrams. Thank you oh they just came and took back the battery I was using SH** HotAugustKat

Thank You, Although Security Light stops flashing when I do this process is it really disarmed? Because when the START position of key ignition is turned shouldnt this cause a signal to be sent to ECU. .should I at least hear the fuel pump for a few seconds when I turn key in ignition?? Or something? or instrument lights go on? So.....
Maybe Security is not disarmed after all....Thank youall for everything please continue to help me it is much needed & appreciated.

It's been a few years since I drove a Q45, but I don't recall being able to hear the pump (a good pump anyways).

Try opening the trunk and listening for the pump. Maybe even try it both with & without the fuel pump fuse pulled.
