Anybody know what the top speed of a bone-stock 1994 Q45 is? I've been meaning to go on a speed run ( :nono: ), but I want to know what to expect. Is it electronically governed by the ECM?

The REAL top speed 151-152mph is very much inline as the error is 5% at the extremes so a showing of
158-160 mph is typical, in fact most show a 4-5 mph error above 75 mph [Good fewer tickets] but everyone
may be different due to tire diameter and exact calibration of the display meter....no adjustment other than
changing the plastic gear wheel in speed sensor.

I believe the top speed is electronically limited to 150 mph

I ran out of clear road at 132mph so I would agree on tops being around 150mph.

Mine was pulling hard at 140mph on GPS... when ran out of road/balls.
Before you go speed running... check your tires. A blow out at 120 plus would be ugly.
Tires are date stamped. Any thing over 4+ years be careful.

Since 2000, the week and year the tire was produced has been provided by the last four digits of the Tire Identification Number with the 2 digits being used to identify the week immediately preceding the 2 digits used to identify the year.

:chuckle:

The original post had a pic of the gps showing 180mph.

Stock speed is 155 on the speedo, governed by the ECU. A decent stock Q45 will have another 15mph or so before it runs out of oomph.

Here's another old thread about top speed:

AWESOME! I'll try for top speed sometime when I get some Y rated tires and replace my splash pan with a metal one. I only hit 140mph with the Auto in 3rd, but backed off when I remembered I still have the 2 year old stock size 15inch Kumos. It was climbing at a steady pace, I thought it would start running out of steam at 160ish. I hit 160mph in my 240sx up a 5% grade, I was using Consult to get that reading 'cause the speedo hits the bottom of the cluster. LOL...

Results should be interesting with the 5-speed. and lighter 1-piece drive-shaft and 8,000rpm red line, although the gears are not as tall with the 5-speed, it should be up there.

I had my 90Q up to 135mph a few years back....with 217,000 miles on the engine. Ran out of room or I could have gone faster.

I got my Dad's 92' up to 145 on a run on highway 101 south of Salinas somewhere. Completely clear blue sky day and he had nearly brand new tires at the time. It wasn't even breaking a sweat, seriously it had plenty more to go. 180 is completely believeable, but at 155 it will shut down....145 was plenty for me, the ticket price alone would have been HUGE.

I was in the 135ish range a couple times. It was a clear day, no traffic, 20 mile straight, new tires and brakes. I felt insecure. I believe nobody needs to go faster than 120 mph on the street. 10 miles an hour makes a HUUUUGE difference when you are going that fast. Speed limits are for bad weather and night time. Its not so much the top speed, but how fast you get there. I cannot afford to speed anymore
