hello to all!

Recently I traded my MKIII Supra turbo for an Inifinit Q45. I got it at 169xxx miles. garaged most of its like I guess. Previous owner replaced 6 of the 8 injectors(all the hard ones) and put a new alternator in it. I starts up everytime on the 1st try! :)
It didnt have a single tear in the leather! inside is very clean! The outside has a couple rust spots but nothing to dramatic.

this was the day I got her: :naughty:

Image

I like to park next to expensive cars in it. lol makes me feel important.

anyways I got the car with a few minor things it needed. The hood shocks were leaking. The actual rear shocks need to be replaced. Also needed a bit of maintenace. Nothing to crazy. :)

I do have plans for the car. I want to VIP it out!
LED lighting anywhere I can put them
double din cd player
LOW ofcourse
some nice 18s
Tint
Id like to find a black Q45t spoiler as well
Subs(i wanted to go with infiniti speaks lol seems to go hand in hand)
more stuff later as I go :)

so far since ive had it I have switched the oil to high milage semi synthetic 10w-30 with a good filter, Swapped in a Z32 fuel filter, put new fresh gear oil, and replaced the hood shocks so it will support its own wieght again. :)

recently(after i traded) the transmission malfuntion light displays in the messege center(doesnt always display it every start up). This is what is happening to it. Sometimes it drive fine other times it likes to get stuck in 1st gear. The other gears shift perfectly with no problems. It will just revv up till it either decideds it wants to shift or if I mash on the gas a bit. Its pretty annoying when your trying to enjoy your nice luxuaries sunday drive in your boss mode Q45. lol I know there is a way to find out what is exactly wrong with the transmission but I cant seem to find the procedure to do it.

For now Only fluid I have left to change in the car is the AT fluid and I plan to add a special additive to help out the transmission a bit. It seems to be something minor since all the other gears work. Any input would be appriciated!

One other thing. My friend had a Q45 and gave me his key fob. For some reason this one doesnt seem to want to go in the "program" mode so that I can sync the fob with it. I looked up the procedure, attempted it over a dozen times or so, and it doesnt seem to flash the hazards to let you know you did it right. I know its a base model Q but I assume all of them came with the fob feature correct? why does this one not want to do it? lol(note: battery in the fob is only a month old)

Look on the back of the remote and there should be an FCC id. Now there are a couple different ID's where it seems like A269ZUA073 is the most popular. I've seen A269ZJA073 which came from a 95 or 96 in Oregon and mine is A269ZUA072 which I cant find a remote for. To check compatibility there is a computer attached to the rear parcel shelf above the fuel tank which is the keyless entry computer. The FPCU is to the right of this, the keyless entry computer has a phone line looking cable and a standard harness connection going into it. Now there is an ID printed on the unit facing down so you can read it. If they font match then you cant use that remote.

Welcome to NICO. The black leather seems to hold up best across the Nissan product line. Are those gold Fittipaldi wheels or BBS?

I had the same problem in my 1st 94Q. It turned out to be a faulty turbine revolution sensor which is one of 3 sensors mounted on the exterior of the transmission. The procedure to ohm test all 3 sensors- Inhibitor Switch, Revolution Sensor and Turbine Revolution Sensor, is in the AT section of the FSM. The sensor connectors are in a bundle at the rear end of the transmission. Page AT-35 has a decent drawing of what you'll be looking for. Ohm test all 3 sensors both hot and cold to find out which one may have gone bad. OHM test procedure is also in the AT section. Despite what the FSM says you don't have to drop the transmission to change a sensor but it would be helpful to have the car on a lift. Sensor was about $100 and the shop charged 1/2 hour labor to change it out.

When my Q wouldn't shift out of 1st gear I pulled over, turned off the engine for 2 seconds and after restarting the engine all was well until the next time it randomly quit shifting.

Do all your doors open when unlocking with key?Maybe one of your back doors isn't working.

this seems kinda confusing. :/ Im just cerious to know what could be the worst to happen if the problem doesnt get addressed? Im honestly not 100% what the problem is either.

oh also when I got the car the previous owner said that it needed a tps sensor. I read somewhere this may effect the shifts in the transmission. does that sound about right?

Yes. A TPS will effect shifting for sure. Don't get a used one, buy a new one.

hmmm ok. Does it sound like something to do with the tps effecting the shifts? previous owner told me the transmission malfuntion light never came on(but who knows if he is being truthful or not)

If you can get a hold of a consult you might want to check out the turbine speed sensor as well. They are known to go out. Neither will trigger a CEL.

But it sounds to me like a TPS issue. I had the same problem on mine and replacing made a huge difference.

Ok so its running like poop :( it has a miss fire and the check engine light sometimes comes on after WOT so I dont even do it anymore. I had the code scanned and it says nothing.....sept knock sensors(figures) but those arent gonna make it run like poop. The tool said it was running rich....Ive two ideas. 1) needs new plugs cause idk when they have been changed. previous owner said he changed 6 out the 8 injectors(WTF?) so. it also spark knocks under load when its low on gas(bout a quarter tank) but I as soon as i let off the gas it goes away. 2) those two injectors... any ideas would be appriciated. Its so slow :(

On a positive note the transmission malfuntion light no longer comes on....All I had done on it was a drain and fill with a transmission additive....but it has stopped stalling in 1st gear so im happy :)

Dude i know it looks and sounds slightly better, but that air filter has to go. I had the same exact one lol, immediately after putting it in i noticed power loss and my exhaust also toned down. Call it laziness but after a few months i put the stock air box back in and it made a big difference. The stock air box is the way to go man its velocity tuned.
