I have a 94 Q45 with 120,000 miles. When I start the car sometimes the "transmission malfunction" message shows up in the dash. It goes away after a few seconds. The transmission works fine as far as I can tell. Except, when the car is cold (I live in Wisconsin) when I put it in reverse it backs up fine for the first 10 feet or so, and then it feels like a brake is being applied. The car still goes backward, but slowly and you can feel resistance. When the car is warm this does not happen.
Any ideas what may be wrong? I don't know any history for the car - I have only had it for 7,000 miles.
