Hi, I notice there are 2 radiator cap on my new used 94 Q45 and 1 is on the left side(view from outside front) close to the engine and separated from the radiator and one is on the right side under a plastic cover on top of the radiator close to the air filter, I notce the 1 cap on the left side does not have any spring and the thick piece of rubber attached to the spring as oppose to the other one on the right side, also I saw some coolant leak on the metal where the left side radiator cap is attached to. I would like ask is the radiator on the left side normal and would it be the cause of the leak on the left side radiator cap neck? I have looked at other post but so far could not find any information. Thank you for your information and help.

How old are the caps? Are you using Nissan OEM parts?

The aftermarket radiator caps fail quite early (as early as 4 months from what I've seen). You'll at least get 3-8 years of service from a Nissan one, which I learned the hard way.

Head to your dealer or contact Infiniti of Scottsdale and replace both of them.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I don't know how old the cap is because I bought the car used, but I think it is very old. There is a "nissan" on the cap, so I think it is an OEM cap. I wonder if it is broken or not since it look different from the other one. Thank you for your info.

The radiator caps as you describe is normal..... The reason theres a spring on the top one is that it keeps the coolant from going up in that tube, to minimize air getting in...

At least get the springy cap, those seem to fail more often.
