Hello,

Was wondering if anyone had ran a power wire for amp through the firewall in a 1994 infinity Q45. I have seen the article where it goes through the wheel fender but would like to have it go through firewall. right now i have it snaking under the hood at the side then down the inside of the door.

thanks

ha ha. i have been doing the same thing for so long it's not funny. i need some motivation to finally finish it and do it right. everytime i think about doing it i get worried about what i might accidentally drill through, so if anybody has any good suggestions i'm all ears too.

I have ran them under the car and utilizing existing grommets in the body before. Be sure to zip tie it to something other than the fuel line though. It keeps it out of the way and also away from your low level rca's or UTP's to keep engine noise to a minimum.

I do the exact same thing!! It's so much easier to run it under the car and if the amp is in the trunk then most trunks have holes in the trunk floor making it very easier to run it into the trunk. There's also a channel for other lines running from the back to front.

hmm under the car sounds good ... was there already a hole to go up into trunk for you?

I ran mine through the fender well and tied it to the factory harness behind the fender liner. It pops in behind the kick panel and is super stealth. The other option would be to run it under the car in conduit. You don't want to leave the power wire bare as it will get snagged on something or pinched and shorted when somebody jacks up the car.

Use a straigtened wire hangar to punch through one of the rubber grommets in the firewall (I went through the passenger side)... use pliers to bend a small loop on the other end of the hangar and hook on your power wire. Wrap it with electrical tape so it doesn't snag. Pull through from under dash. Leave lots of slack in the wire (you never know when you'll be doing upgrades or splicing into it) but keep it away from heat sources. Add a fuse as close to battery terminal as possible to prevent fire or other damages in case of a short.
