94 Q45, base model. 130,000 miles.

Hopped in the car after a long time of me not driving it (wife's daily commute car) and notice all sorts of bad things going on: terrible suspension, oil leaks, and the danged LEDs for the seat memory on the driver-side door are simultaneously blinking all the time (more about that later). Anyway, that's what I get for not quizzing the missus often enough about the status of the car.

Well, not finding a satisfactory mechanic in the 4 years I've been living in this new area, and having spent outrageous prices for dealer service... well I thought it was about time I got some extra tools and do the valve covers myself...

Uh... oh much easier to do the covers if you take the plenum off (and I did it... yay!!) ... holy cow, look at all the hoses under there... ok... might as well replace those hoses, oy I should check the injectors and o-rings... and go ahead and do the right-side valve covers too...

Lessee... I gotta take this top radiator hose off, dang gotta drop the guard and drain the coolant... what's this? Leaking power-steering hoses!

That, and I've got front and rear Tokico blues on order too.

Still, it's kinda fun. I grew up in the radiator repair and a/c business, so I'm familiar with most things, but I've never done engine work... nor have I worked on suspension.

But you know what? I think I'll do fine because of all the excellent info posted on this forum. For example, it could have taken me twice as long to get that metallic octopus off if it hadn't been for this board.

So... Thanks to everyone who's posted here for all the info, and wish me luck on this huge Q45 repair project. :D

Oh yeah, about the seat memory -- What's with the flashing lights? I can't reset any of them. They blink simultaneously. When I try to set one of them (for example, the first one) the LED will stay on for one second and then the lights will blink in an alternating pattern. Also, the steering wheel will arbitrarily lower (even with the "cancel" button in the "up" position) when the key is put into the ignition. Could it be the seat CU? We really don't use this thing, so if it's the (most likely expensive) CU then is there some way of disabling it, like pulling the right fuse? I haven't been able to find everything in the included maintenance manual yet, so I was hoping one of the experts here could share with us a quick answer.

Thanks again in advance. :D

WOW! RIGHT ON!!!!

Congrats, Shag - This is just the kind of post that NICO was designed to elicit. Sounds like you've got quite a project on hand. Make sure you thoroughly clean the inside of the plenum and the throttle body... But if you've searched this place at all, you already know that.

p.s. Joe at Scottsdale Infiniti is THE MAN for parts at unbeatable prices for NICO members.

I'm not sure about your seat memory problem, but the cancel switch is effective when pushed in.

Ah. Should have mentioned that the problem still occurs with the cancel switch pushed-in, though the steering wheel tilt becomes less erratic.

There are a lot of things that CAN cause this problem. The Body Control Module (computer) does a lot of things. You really need the service manual and to go through the diagnostics.

The first thing to try is disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and letting it rest itself. Then try reprogramming it by the manual.

Hey guys, I hope I'm here to help! I have reset my seat memory more times then I would like to remember, which has worked for me. Good Luck and I hope it helps everyone out there that needs it. A word to the wise, copy and print and put a copy in your car it will come in handy, it has for me, don't all ways remember. SO HERE GOES!!!!!!!!!

AUTUMATIC DRIVE POSITIONER RESET

Before you start the procedure, remove the neg. cable from the battery,(for about 5 to 10 minutes has worked for me) put the cable back. I have used Elecrtic grease on the post( since I have not had the problem) make sure you have a better then good contact. Now you can start the procedure.

1. Open the driver's door2. Turn the key to the Run position3. Turn the key all the way back off, but don't remove the key4. Close the door5. Wait about 1 minute6. Open the door; the memory function should work now.

A couple of times I've been too anxious and opened the door without waiting long enough, if you do, just start the procedure over.:icesangel

About making copies, everything you use from this site print and make book, it works!
